Only 4.7% of rural Madagascar has access to electricity. HERi has set up an innovative concept to provide clean and affordable energy to remote off-grid villages of Madagascar by setting-up energy kiosks throughout the country.
The kiosk entrepreneur charges the fosera Scandle lamp through a PV panel on a daily basis and rents it to customers with a home delivery service. Each kiosk has 80 fosera Scandle lamps to rent out.
HERi launched the first two kiosks on November 2012. Now, there are 19 energy kiosks that offer this lamp rental service.
The Scandle lamps have been rented out around 658 000 times since the launch of HERi's operations.
"The fosera lamp is way brighter than any other lighting solutions we have experienced. We use it for cooking, studying, and working at night.", says a customer of HERi.
HERi is moving forward and is exploring a sales models with its new energy kiosks.
